Serra Do Cipo

Day 1:
We have an appointment with "Roberto", our host at 8:30 to reach the entrance of the park 8 km.
The park offers different hikes of several km and of all levels.

We choose in the circuit "Dos Bandeirantes", the hike of the "Cachoeira Da Farofa" a circuit of 16 km round trip to reach a waterfall 70 m high.

The surrounding nature is diverse, but little shaded and on arrival in a small canyon, the waterfall appears majestic.

We return to the campsite tired ... temperatures are high 33°

Day 2:

day "Off" : rest, lunch in town and update of the site.

Small detour to the tourist office ... As always we are well received with kindness but in Portuguese ... no other languages.

Day 3:
On the program the hike "Cachoeira Grande": a waterfall 12 m high, which often appears on the postcards of the national park.

Nice little hike under a milky sun.

Afternoon devoted to rest.

Sierra Do Cipo

Before leaving the capital of "Minas Gerais" we try to find a floor mat for the driver’s cabin ... After several visits to specialized stores we make "Chou Blanc".

We resume our journey bypassing the third city of Brazil.

The road is uneven and we keep driving through beautiful landscapes, mixture of plains and valleys.

At destination we head to the campsite we had spotted... Big disappointment ... impossible to see the site before paying ... and in addition the asking price is exorbitant!!

Just opposite we find another campsite 3 times cheaper ... it will ask to be renovated. We are almost the only customers.

We spend the afternoon preparing our hike for the next days.

The Serra do Cipo Mountain Range Park is considered one of the most precious natural heritages in Brazil, due to its biodiversity and enormous ecotourism potential, with its countless waterfalls and endless hiking options.
Belo Horizonte

Early birds to be in the first to visit the museum "Inhotim": museum of contemporary art in an open-air botanical garden.

Arriving at the car park, groups of young people are already present ... we thought would be alone!! It’s Wednesday and admission is free ... It’s a nice surprise.

In 1980 the businessman Bernardo Paz and his friend Burle Marx had the idea of building an art centre in the middle of nature.

In the mid-1990s, he sold his rich collection of modern art and began another, of contemporary art. It will take 26 years to open the museum.

Inhotim is first and foremost a 100 ha garden designed in the heart of the Mata Atlantica, the tropical forest covering part of Brazil.

It is home to some 191 botanical families, 953 genera and just over 4,200 plant species. Palm trees and orchids have been the subject of particular attention from the famous landscape designer Roberto Burle Marx.

Everywhere, carved tree trunks transformed into benches allow the visitor to peacefully enjoy an exceptional ecosystem.

We spend a great part of the day there, then we return to Belo Horizonte where we spend the night in a roadside... not very clean... rather a dump!!!
