Chetumal

We leave this too touristic town in the direction of " Bacalar " that, once again, we won’t visit.

The rain of the day before and the early morning  one made this village impassable.

We go to " Chetumal " to find our friends Corinne and Thierry.

We are happy to see them again and have a good time with them.

Two days at "Chetumal" to prepare  our trip to "Belize"

Photocopies of documents, hairdresser, laundry and camper oil changing.

Little visit to the dentist for Christophe.

Unfortunately the dentist broke his "Bridge"… Makeshift repair untill  we return to France.
Tulum

"Tulum" was erected on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea.

This late-era Mayan site was at its peak between 1200 and the arrival of the Spanish. Its name means "Wall or Enclosure"

There are two temples, a castillo,  fortified walls, houses and steles.

Its architecture displays small buildings with flat roofs.

As a major commercial port, its activities extended to distant regions, along the coastal route that then connected Honduras to the central Altiplano.

We visit the site just after a heavy rain that drove visitors away.
Coba

Here we go again for new adventures.

"Coba" is our first step.

Established between 300 and 1000 around a set of lakes, this city is located in the centre of a network of "Sacbeob" or white road. These rectilinear paths, covered with limestone, connected buildings or Mayan settlements throughout Yucatan and Guatemala.

* Group Cobae: there is a pyramid called "La Iglesia" and a ball game.

* Macanxoc Group: Mayan steles engraved with historical inscriptions

* Groupe Nohoch Mul: 42 m pyramid whose climb to the top is rough.

We walk these three groups separated by long distances without taking the
« bike » option  .... We need to do some sport .... 15 km !

This also allows us to avoid groups of tourists who arrive from Playa Del Carmen or Tulum and visit the site on tripods, in flip-flops and beach outfit!!!
Miami / Cancun

Two days transfer to pick up our camper.

It was waiting for us nicely in his storage.

We spend a few days preparing our onward trip.

On the first day Christophe repairs the fridge successfully ... one worry less.

During our stay we learn that the owner of the campsite is the subject of threats from a cartel that demands 5,000 USD. If he doesn’t want to pay they will set fire to the campground !!!

Of course he refuses, but he is not immune to a serious problem, especially since this cartel has already appeared at the gates of the campsite....

We leave them not very confident
