Saint Vincent

We return to the main island early to reach our very nice hotel ... it rains but we enjoy the terrace and the comfort of the room.... this time :  no bad surprise!!!
Grenadines

Half day transfer to the island of "Bequia" 9 miles from the capital.

We had given an appointment with our driver from the previous day at noon to take us to the port.

At 12:30, still nobody, the stress starts to go up...the boat leaves to
13 h..... finally we call another taxi.

The crossing lasts only one hour on an old ferry.

Arriving at our hotel, once again we are disappointed. The reality does not match the photos of the "booking.com" web site, and the apartment is very basicaly furnished.

It doesn’t matter, we start getting used to it...At least,we will enjoy the beach .

These disagreements  make us think that we made the right choice :  travelling in our camper. That’s what we love most...... No surprise...all the comfort in 12 square meters...and freedom in addition.
Saint Vincent

We take a taxi to the airport to get our car.

No one at the desk...the taxi dispatcher calls the person in charge who replies that there is no car available and that, anyway,  he does not rent a vehicle just for one day.... Thanks Avis!!

We’re at the airport, in the middle of nowhere.... welcome to Saint Vincent.

Only solution, hire  a taxi for the day ....  That’s what we do.

"Saint Vincent and the Grenadines" form a volcanic archipelago counting 32 islands. A former pirate landmark, Saint Vincent Island lies north of the archipelago, where Kingstown, the capital city and the  the only town, is located.

After having experienced the flibustiers, the smugglers and the intensive cultivation of sugar cane, the archipelago became a peaceful destination for foreigners, but also for the shooting of the Hollywood series of "Pirates of the Caribbean".

With its yachts-filled ports, private chic islands and volcanic landscapes, this country is a popular destination for sailing.

We visit the western part of the island going up north.

We take the very winding and narrow road that does not make the complete tour of the island. We will be have to come back on the same road.

We are glad to have a driver. Driving is sporty and dangerous. With a rental we would not have appreciated the beautiful landscapes and the small coves.

After lunch in a little restaurant by the sea, we continue our visit with a double cascade.

It’s a great meal, so we’re buying takeout for tonight. We’re not going to starve.
Saint Vincent

Another transfer day.

We leave our rental vehicle in the airport parking lot, leaving the ignition keys in the engine!!

Easy :   open the car hood, lock the vehicle, slide the keys into a plastic bag and put them behind the battery, then close the car hood.

After a 30 min flight  we land in Saint Vincent.

We are welcomed by the tourist office which gives us yellow t-shirts  (colors of the island), and we learn by the same occasion that today is the independence day and that everything is closed, as well as tomorrow..That’s bad luck.

We reach our flat which once again gives us surprises. The bungalows are under repair and ours is not completed.

However the interior is refurbished, the kitchen utensils are still in their packaging. The owner provides us with what’s missing. It is impossible for us to enjoy the outdoors.

The beach,  100 m  away, does not allow us to rest there: it is a small stripe of  sand...

We take a taxi to reach a supermarket to do some shopping. Tonight’s menu : cocktail sausages, crisps, cookies...and white wine.... diet!!!

We decide to rent a car by internet  at the AVIS agency, for the next day
