Arrival
Departure
Parrita

We pick up our gas bottle and head south to another coconut beach.

A small paradise that welcomes surfers, families and tourists.

Here the Costa Ricans come to spend a few hours, or a short day.

Next week is  Semana Santa and a family holiday. So we decide not to move for two weeks.

Our days are punctuated by reading, walking, napping (35°), the surfers' show and eating.

We are joined for two days by Babette and Jean-Jacques who arrived two weeks after us and who found their motorhome robbed but not damaged. A short week of repairs and the same problems at the San José Customs.

A small fish restaurant welcomes us every other evening. The menu is up to our expectations.... what a pleasure to be served!!

It’s a good thing we left, despite our setbacks, we’re delighted to be here.

As expected, we are overrun by families ...

The fashion here is to stick to your neighbor, even if there’s room further away!!! and plug in your portable stereo to a high level ...

The Costa Ricans love us!!
Herradura

We arrive in this small seaside resort very popular for Americans and city dwellers of the capital.

Located in a pretty gulf ,and only 2 hours from San José, this will be our first stop.

We find a great spot under the trees and on the beach. We quietly recover from all our emotions.

We spend two nights there to the sound of waves crashing on the sand.

One of our gas cylinders being empty we are looking to refill it. We discover that since 2018 it is impossible to refill our bottles by the usual means.

We either exchange this one for a bottle of Costa Rica (not of good quality), or we entrust it to a dealer who fills it up it in the capital. Delay 24 to 48 hours.

Lucky we are , we have it refilled  for the next morning.

Many families come to spend the day in a good atmosphere.

At sunset the beach empties and we are almost alone.

Not for long: for the third night, a large family comes to camp close to our companion.

It will be a hell of a night: their dog will bark all night!!!
3rd brake repair

We’re back at the garage.

The brake discs need to be rectified.

Another day at our friend’s house, we are not the only customers and he must also honour his commitments to his customers.

Last night in our parking lot.

Tomorrow departure to the Pacific coast
2nd brake repair

We wake up early for the tow.

Of course our tow truck arrives late and starts the process to hoist the camper on the plateau.

Christophe tells him that we have an important  overhang and to be careful .... we are in Costa Rica, so nothing is simple ...

From the first try the troubles begin ... it breaks a part of the rear bumper .... and it continues ... but not too much breakage!!!

Christophe intervenes and the motorhome is hoisted and moored on the plateau.

We reach the garage while watching our companion.

The descent  process out of the plateau does not go as planned ...

the RV goes down sideways and hits the sidewalk ... the rear breaks ...

The vehicle is stuck, the mechanic come to help with one of his workers .

Raising the motorhome to the rear with a jack to place wooden planks and rims below to keep it. at good height.

After removing the jack, the maneuver consists of moving the plateau forward while keeping the camper on the spot ... it cracks but it works ...

The result: a morbid fear for Christophe who remained at the wheel during the whole process and a damaged bumper.

We spend the whole day at the garage.

The repair is more complicated than expected. The brake fluid hoses are HS and need to be changed ... but cannot be found here. Happily our mechanic has them manufactured in a specialized store.

Everything is fine ...

During the repair, Christophe orders the two solar batteries that arrive in two hours, and in addition the store is 500 meters away.

We are ready to continue the adventure ....

Back to our parking lot, but the brake pedal still shakes when braking.

Decision taken: tomorrow we go back to the garage and while waiting christophe tries to repair  the bumper
