We visit downtown Honolulu abd China Town in the morning.
Nothing really exciting.
We spend the rest of the day, laying on our beach beds on Waikiki Beach.
A couple of seals make the show at sunset.
Another oudoor "Hula" cession with some X'mas Songs, ends our last evening here in a very nice way.
Pearl Harbor
Pearl harbor gets its name from the pearl fishing tradition.
On december 7th 1941, a japaneese attack on Pearl Harbor took 2500 lives, sank 21 ships and fatefully catapulted the US into world Ward II.
Today, more than 1.5 million people a year "remember Pearl Harbor" by visiting the Arizona Memorial.
The memorial sits directly over the sunken Arizona ; visitors look down at the shallow wreck, still a tomb for 1177 sailors.
Berfore entering the memorial, we watch a 20 min movie, explaining the origin and the repercussions of this attack.
A very emotional experience !
In the afternoon, we climb up "Diamond Head"
The famous volcano you can see from Waikiki, with its 1 km wide crater.
It dates from 300 000 years and is the result of an explosive eruption.
The view we have from the top is just unforgettable.
After the sunset, dancers and musicians from a "Hula" dancing school performed for one hour on the beachfront. Magic!
Last visited island ... Oahu.
Whos has never dreamt of Honolulu ?
Who has never been watching "Hawaii 5-0" ?
Here we are !
Oahu is the most lively and touristic island of the Hawaian archipelago.
Millions of tourists come here for the 5 stars hotels, the luxury shops and the water sports.
That's in Oahu that you find the most popular attraction of Hawaii :
"The Arizona Memorial" in Pearl Harbor.
The south of the island with Honolulu and Waikiki beach is "the place" where things happen !
We check-in our hotel in Waikiki, a few steps from the ocean and start exploring... "the beach"...
It's overcrowded with tourists swimming, surfing or sunbathing.
We keep wandering on the beachfront until sunset.
