Baja Ferries

We have to cross the " Cortez Sea " to reach the continent.

Out of the two compagnies operating on this line, we choose " Baja Ferries " for it's confort.

Today is saturday and the next three days are public holidays.

So we leave Yumie and François who drive in another direction and arrive in " La Paz " where we are offered a crossing for the same evening.

No on board camping, so we take a cabin for the 13 hours crossing.

A last drink with Corinne and Thierry and it's time to embark.

Good surprise ! very nice cabin, the included meal is correct, the magaritas are delicious and the ferry leaves on time
Cabo Pulmo

Yumie and François walk the 5 km to join us and explore the corals.

The sea isn't very warm, so we can't stay too long in the water admiring the colorfull fishes : a real beauty.

End of afternoon : that's time to try to leave the beach.

Yumie and Jean Pierre walk the way to stop incoming cars, Christophe at the wheel and François as copilote.

And...here we go ! First gear ! the camper pitches like mad,but climbs the hill and arrives victorious on the top ! Nothing broke.

We  think, we've made the worst part...No !

One km before the village, an enormous american camper and it's trailer (as long wide as two buses) is stopped in front of us.

U-turn impossible for any of us.

So we have to go on, the right wheels on a sand enbankment, leaning dangerously to the american bus...three cm only separates the two vehicules.

We stop, analize the situation and...move forward ........as there is not other solution.

We made it but what a fright !

This is an example of our everyday driving on the mexican roads.

We're sure we'll find the same situations again in the future.

What an adventurous life !
Playa Los Arbolitos

We really want to go to " Playa Los Arbolitos " famous for it's submarine life.

So we drive on an unpaved lane up to " Cabo Pulmo " and enquire about the road conditions to reach the beach.

" No Problem at all with a camper " says the employee of the park office " it's just five km away " ... Let's go !

First fright : the last 100 m donwards are very steep with a lot of ruts and a hairpin bend.....

We make it with difficulties, but already distress, thinking of the way back....

Second fright : Yumie and François, following us, can make it. Their camper is less powerfull than ours.

They have to reverse in the middle of the deep slope until they find a flat space to do U turn.

But the lane is not wide enough for the 7.30 m long camper.

It takes us 30 minutes to do it,digging the sand to make more room !!!

On that beach, we met Manu and Michele and spent some good time chatting with them.
Cabo San lucas

It's time to leave " Todos Santos " that we enjoyed so much, but we've to go on.

We're now in the most southern point of Baja California, after driving 2 430 km  on mostly difficult roads.

Very posh sea resort for americans and canadiens, " Cabo San Lucas " is not our place !

It's neigbour " Cabo San Jose " offers nothing but five stars hotels, luxurious marinas with huge yachts.

We have a walk on the marina and do a little hike to the land's end.
